How much power does a TV use?
A TV draws 1.25 amps through the electrical outlet when it is turned on. To calculate TV power in watts, we multiply 1.25 amps x 120 Volts (V). The TV uses 150 Watts per second when it is turned on.
When we talk about the total energy use of our TV sets over a day, month, or year we use Kilowatt hours (kW*h or kWh) units.
How much electricity is used to watch TV for 2 hours?
150 watts x 2 hours = 300 Watt-hours = 0.3 kW*h
