Nuclear Power Generation
As of 2005, nuclear power provided 6.3% of the world's energy and 15% of the world's electricity. The United States, France, and Japan together account for the majority of nuclear generated electricity. As of 2007, there were 439 nuclear power plants providing energy in 31 countries. The United States produces the largest amount of nuclear energy. Nuclear power provides the United States with 19% of the electricity it consumes. As of 2006, France produces the highest percentage (78%) of its electrical energy from nuclear reactors.
