The pie chart on the left displays the percentage of each energy source that was consumed (or used up) in the United States in 2007.
Sustainable (renewable) energy sources include biomass, hydroelectric, geothermal, wind, and solar.
Non-renewable energy sources include petroleum (crude oil), natural gas, coal, and nuclear.
Electricity imports are electricity mostly imported from Canada that is generated from hydroelectric power plants. A much smaller amount of electricity is imported from Mexico to the State of California that comes from natural gas plants.
